Animal Assisted Wellbeing
Our Animal Assisted service uses carefully facilitated interactions with a range of gentle, intuitive animals to support emotional regulation and personal development for individuals with and without SEND.
Participants are encouraged to choose the animal that best soothes their nervous system or offers meaningful insight into their strengths, challenges, and relationships. Through these experiences, individuals can build greater self-awareness and develop healthier responses to their own emotions and to others.
Learning sessions take place in the barns and stables, where animals become partners in practical, engaging, and inspiring educational activities. Programs can be tailored to include specialist approaches and support a wide range of learning needs.
With the calm presence of the animals and skilled facilitation, participants can make sustainable improvements in their wellbeing, daily life or professional performance either individually or as part of a group.

At Higher Farm, we are incredibly fortunate to share our space with a diverse and much-loved family of animals, both large and small. Each one plays an important role in our animal-assisted intervention sessions, offering comfort, connection, and meaningful moments to all those who interact with them. We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every visitor can build confidence, develop new skills, and experience the therapeutic benefits of spending time with animals.

Our larger residents may stand tall, but they are gentle by nature. They provide a unique opportunity for visitors to connect with big, calm, and reassuring companions.
Interacting with these magnificent animals can support emotional regulation, enhance communication, and foster trust. Our large animals include:

Our smaller animals offer just as much warmth, affection, and therapeutic benefit as their larger companions.
They are perfect for individuals who prefer quiet, close-up interactions or enjoy caring for animals in a hands-on way. Our small animals include:
